It was a hot and hazy Independence day in Lancaster County. However, that didn't stop a small community group from coming together to experience the sawmill, at Big Spring Farm.
Powered by Harvey Nolt's Eclipse Steam Engine, and run by Dave Martin.
Ben Shirk, a local sawmill operator, lent his expertise to the operation of the sawmill.
With a warm breeze, and the shade from the roof, the sawdust flew as each log turned into rough cut lumber one piece at a time.
After a good morning of work, lunch was served. Baked beans & ham, warmed by the heat of the steam engine boiler.
